Galaxy S4 Breaks Easier than iPhone, Galaxy S3

Posted by ETrade Supply

Comparing Samsung Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S3 and Apple’s iPhone 5, the Galaxy S4 was found to be more fragile than iPhone 5 or previous generation Galaxy S3. Smartphone insurance vendor SquareTrade has released a durability test on Galaxy S4 mentioning “although Galaxy S4 was tested to be more water resistant than its predecessor, it performed worse in most other categories.”

The SquareTrade Breakability Score ranks today’s top devices by evaluating phone key elements such as front and back panel design, edge construction and materials, size, weight, friction quotient, water resistance and grip-ability.“ Even the smallest device characteristics can dramatically affect its breakability: the weight balance of a device can affect the way it spins in free-fall, making it more likely to land on its screen; devices with rubber backs are less likely to slide, and device dimensions can effect how snugly smartphones fit in pant and jeans pockets.” SquareTrade CMO Ty Shay Said.

The company’s press release on Samsung Galaxy S4 to the S3 and Apple iPhone 5 score comment is the following:

While the S4 proved slightly more water resistant than its predecessor the S3, Samsung’s new Galaxy phone actually performed worse in most other categories. Major strikes against the S4 include high breakability during SquareTrade Drop Tests, a slippery back panel, and a wider screen that reduces grip-ability, especially compared to the ultra-slim iPhone 5. Breakability Score: 7

While the Samsung S3 screen is more durable, it is less water resistant than the S4 and its plastic back and wide width decreases its grip-ability. Breakability score: 6.5

The iPhone 5 scored the highest of the three phones tested. While it lost points for its larger size due to more breakable surface area, its excellent grip-ability and low friction coefficient make it far more durable overall. Breakability Score: 5

iOS 7 Will Come with Flat Design

Posted by ETrade Supply

iOS 7 – the next generation of iOS operating system will be released by Apple at its annual developers event that will be held in June. Although what exactly will be different about the upcoming iOS 7 has been unclear, one source indicates flat design will be highlighted in new iOS 7 to attract more attention.

According to many people who have actually seen Apple’s iOS 7 endeavor, 9to5Mac says “Apple’s making big changes in the look and feel of the software. Specifically changing everything–the new interface is said to be “very, very flat, the interface loses all signs of gloss, shine, and skeuomorphism seen across current and past versions of iOS, the new OS as having a level of “flatness” approaching recent releases of Microsoft’s Windows Phone “Metro” UI”.

In addition, the news said that Apple is finding other ways to access basic information with gestures, just like what it currently uses with a one-finger swipe to bring up Notification Center, and a four-finger swipe on the iPad to pull up the multitasking menu.

Apple Put Extra $500 Million in R&D, Compete Samsung?

Posted by ETrade Supply

It’s reported that Apple increased its research and development budget by $500 million in the past six months. The report showed that is an increase by 33 percent in the Q2 of 2013 compared to the same period last year. If so, Apple will spend $4 billion on research and development this year. In the first six months of its fiscal year, Apple has already spent $2.13 billion on R&D, which is extra impressive given that the company only spent $1.6 billion for all of the previous fiscal year. Apple said that the extra spending was “directly related to timely development of new and enhanced products that are central to the Company’s core business strategy. As such, the Company expects to make further investments in R&D to remain competitive.”

Apple Put Extra $500 Million in R&D, Compete Samsung?

As well all know, iOS hasn’t seen any major UI changes in years, and while the iPhone is designed well, that design hasn’t changed much in the past few years except to get longer and a metal back. With such big changes, is the new Apple coming? Or are you expecting a new Apple? Maybe Apple need to invest more to make Apple more competitive to draw back some market lose by Samsung.

T-Mobile’s Galaxy S4 Online Sales Delayed to April 29th

Posted by ETrade Supply-the Top cell phone parts supplier

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 online sales will be pushed back to Monday, April 29th, due to an unexpected delay with inventory deliveries. The smartphone was originally planned to be available on T-Mobile website on Wednesday, April 24.This unpleased news of 5 days delay makes all T-Mobile customers desiring to get new Galaxy S4 suffer a little bit longer wait.

With the plan of selling the Galaxy S4 at physical retail locations on May 1st, T-Mobile says it is working with Samsung to have enough devices delivered in time for the new date. The following is T-Mobile’s apology:

We know customers are really looking forward to getting their new Samsung Galaxy S 4 soon. However, due to an unexpected delay with inventory deliveries, the Galaxy S 4 will not be available on www.T-Mobile.com as planned on Wednesday, April 24. Instead, online availability is expected to begin on Monday, April 29. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working with Samsung to deliver the device to T-Mobile customers as soon as possible.

AT&T customers may get good news, for AT&T has sent out updates on this smartphone device arrival date. AT&T announced customers who preordered their Galaxy smartphone early can begin receiving it as soon as April 25th. Sprint will sell the Galaxy S4 on April 27th, and Verizon has yet to commit to a date. Maybe AT&T customers are the first to get their Samsung’s Galaxy S4.
